Το “Shadow of the Moon” κυκλοφόρησε το 1997 και είναι το πρώτο στούντιο άλμπουμ των Blackmore’s Night. Το άλμπουμ παρέμεινε για 17 εβδομάδες στα γερμανικά charts και έγινε χρυσό στην Ιαπωνία με πάνω 100.000 πωλήσεις. Το 2023 κυκλοφόρησε μια επετειακή έκδοση 25 χρόνων, περιέχοντας νέα μίξ από κάθε τραγούδι και περιλάμβανε μια home session του “Shadow of the Moon” και “Spirit of the Sea”, ενώ το bonus DVD περιλαμβάνει video clips των τραγουδιών “Shadow of the Moon”, “No Second Chance” και “Renaissance Faire”.
