John Carpenter & Cody Carpenter & Daniel Davies – Halloween Kills (Original Soundtrack) – Vinyl LP

John Carpenter’s soundtracks for the latest Halloween trilogy, which he co-composed with his longtime collaborators Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, marked the legendary director and composer’s return to film scoring after a hiatus of almost two decades.

‘Halloween’ (2018), ‘Halloween Kills’ (2021) and ‘Halloween Ends’ (2022) were all directed by David Gordon Green, who involved Carpenter early on in pre-production and eventually hired him as executive producer and soundtrack composer for the trilogy. Now, for the first time, a deluxe edition of the soundtrack to “Halloween Ends” is being released as a 2xLP expansion by Carpenter’s long-standing label Sacred Bones Records. “Halloween” from 2018 was a success beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.

The film opened with the highest box office figures in Blumhouse’s history and was the most successful film in the “Halloween” series. It was inevitable that two sequels, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, were soon greenlit. Green signed on to direct both films, but he wouldn’t assume that John, Cody and Daniel would return for the score. “I don’t take anything for granted,” he says. “So you hope they had a good experience. I know we had fun on the project, but you never know about people’s time and financial interests and all those things. The realities of business and filmmaking don’t always run that smoothly. But there were no problems. We looked at each other and said, “How can we make this work? Let’s try again.”
