Vocalist Deryck Whibley on the album: ‘As soon as I heard the music I was confident enough to say, ‘This is the record I want to go out with.’ We made a double album of pop-punk and metal, and that makes sense. It took us a long time to pave this path for ourselves, but we did it and it is unique to us.’

Heaven :x: Hell is an ideal farewell gift from the band to their fans who have supported them tirelessly and strives for nothing less than greatness. Deryck spoke about it with GQ: “I love Sum 41 and what we’ve accomplished, what we’ve endured and what we’ve experienced together is the reason I want to end it,” says Deryck. “There were so many times where we could have given up. But for some reason we persevered. I’m proud of that. It’s the right time to quit. I’m putting all my energy into what lies ahead. This will be the biggest tour of our lives and I want it to be the better show we’ve ever done. That’s it.” Looking back on the band’s 27-year career, Sum 41 have their place in rock history with over 15 million records sold worldwide, countless Billboard chart placements, a Grammy Award nomination, 2 Juno Awards (7 nominations), a Kerrang. Award in 2002, several Alternative Press Music Awards and countless other awards.
