2016 album from the jazz veteran. Charles Lloyd & The Marvels I Long To See You presents the NEA Jazz Master saxophonist with a new band featuring guitarist Bill Frisell. The album’s 10 tracks cover traditional hymns, anti-war folk protests and re-envisioned Lloyd originals. The album includes a beautiful interpretation of “You Are So Beautiful” with Norah Jones on vocals and “Strangest Dream” with Willie Nelson on vocals. I Long To See You is Lloyd’s second album on Blue Note and the follow-up to Wild Man Dance (2015). Though Charles primarily plays tenor saxophone and flute, he has occasionally recorded on other reed instruments, including alto saxophone and the Hungarian tárogató.
