Daniel Lozakovich, 23-year-old Swedish violinist and winner of the Vladimir Spivakov International Violin Competition, has just signed with the Warner Classics label. Noted from a young age for his warm and elegant sound, his remarkable technique and his depth of interpretation, he presents in this new album a recital with pianist Mikhail Pletnev. The duo performs works by Grieg, Franck, Shostakovich and Shor/Pletnev. “It was my dream to record an album with Mikhail Pletnev, one of the greatest pianists in history and one of my favorite musicians. With the Grieg Sonata we pay homage to the legendary recording of Kreisler and Rachmaninov. As for Franck’s Sonata, it represents the pinnacle of spiritual beauty, the ideal expression of the dialogue between the violin and the piano.”
