Three times for a Grammy nominated duo ODESZA has teamed up with the successful Apple TV+ show Severance for a new 7-track EP and lent their own handwriting to the distinctive sounds of the Emmy-winning compositions by Theodore Shapiro. The music that was first heard on the 8-hour visual and acoustic experience “Music To Refine To”—as a playful nod to the idea of a soundtrack for your “inside” at work. The seamless 23-minute mix repeats continuously throughout the duration, letting listeners immerse themselves in the various motifs, tones and atmospheres of the show. Since its release two weeks ago, the video has been viewed more than 2 million times, and ODESZA’s social contributions on collaboration reached more than 3.5 million views over the same period. In the multi-award-winning show that ended their second season on Friday, March 21, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team of Lumon Industries whose employees have undergone severance pay in which their memories are surgically divided between their work and personal lives. Featuring a renowned cast that includes Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus and John Turturro, the show has been dubbed “a captivating thriller” by The New York Times and by The Guardian “an impressively idiosyncratic thing that is entirely of itself and aware of its mission to keep your mind implode to implode let”.
