Popol Vuh – Hosianna Mantra – Vinyl LP

The third album by Popol Vuh, a music collective founded by Florian Fricke in Germany in 1969. “Hosianna Mantra” was very different from the band’s first two albums. Bandleader Florian Fricke dispensed with the Moog synthesizer and instead relied on acoustic instruments such as piano, oboe and tambura. The album also featured atmospheric vocals by Korean singer Djong Yun and guitar contributions by Conny Veit.

The resulting album was one of the most inspiring, moving and beautiful works created in Germany in the 1970s, and its fusion of ethnic, classical and ambient influences is still unique today.

No wonder that “Hosianna Mantra” is still considered one of Popol Vuh’s best works and is held in high esteem by critics and fans alike.
