A somewhat unusual classic in the discography of Stan Getz is the 1961 recorded album “Focus”, on which the tenor saxophonist presented himself with string accompaniment. Getz proved to be a master cross-border worker between classical music and jazz. The breathtaking compositions and arrangements that clearly stood out from the string arrangements that otherwise usual in jazz came from the relatively unknown but excellent Eddie Sauter. Four years later, Getz and Sauter worked successfully together again in recording the soundtrack of the neo-noir crime thrillers “Mickey One”.
